Why choose acoustic fencing?

Acoustic fencing is about one thing: cutting the noise that comes through a standard fence. Sound sneaks through gaps, so an acoustic fence is built dense and sealed — and we build it two ways.

In timber, that means lapped-and-capped palings with a sleeper along the bottom and no gaps anywhere for noise to pass. In panels, we install lightweight wall systems such as modular wall, Quickbuilt or alternate — dense infill panels with a premium rendered look. Both are ideal for busy-road frontages and noise-sensitive blocks.

Real noise reduction

Dense, gap-free construction that noticeably cuts traffic and neighbour noise.

Two builds to suit

Acoustic timber (lapped & capped, sleeper base) or lightweight panel wall systems.

Premium street appeal

Panel systems read like a rendered masonry wall; acoustic timber keeps the warm natural look.

Built for NQ

Correct footings and fixing for our wind region, in timber or steel-framed panels.

Acoustic timber fencing: lapped, capped and sealed

A standard paling fence does little for noise — sound passes straight through the gaps between palings and under the fence. Our acoustic timber build closes every path: lapped-and-capped palings so there are no gaps between boards, a capping rail over the top, and a sleeper running along the bottom so there's no gap at ground level either. The result is a dense, sealed timber fence that noticeably cuts traffic and neighbour noise while keeping the warm, natural look that suits Townsville homes.

It's built like our other timber fencing — quality treated timber, posts concreted to depth, detailed to shed water and breathe — just denser and sealed for sound.

Lightweight panel wall systems: modular, Quickbuilt or alternate

For the premium look, we install lightweight acoustic wall systems such as modular wall, Quickbuilt or alternate panel systems. A steel post frame is set into concrete footings, dense infill panels slot between the posts, and everything is capped and finished — giving you the appearance of a rendered masonry wall without the cost, heavy footings and wait of bricklaying.

The dense infill panels are what give these systems their acoustic edge, and they're finished in a range of colours, textures and capping options to suit a modern home. Ideal for busy-road frontages, feature entries and anywhere you want privacy plus a high-end finish.

Which acoustic fence suits your Townsville block?

Acoustic timber is the cost-effective route — it looks like a premium timber fence and works hard against noise, and it suits blocks where a natural look fits best. Panel wall systems cost more but read as a solid, rendered wall from the street and deliver the strongest acoustic performance — the pick for main-road frontages and modern builds.

Either way the install is what counts up here: correct footings, wind-region fixing and a sealed build. We'll look at your block, the noise source and the budget, and recommend the right one — and because we also build timber and Colorbond, we'll tell you straight if a standard fence would do the job.

FAQs

Acoustic fencing — your questions answered

Does acoustic fencing really reduce noise?

Yes — noise gets through a normal fence via the gaps between and under the palings. Acoustic fencing is built dense and sealed: lapped-and-capped timber with a sleeper along the bottom, or dense panel systems like modular wall and Quickbuilt. Both noticeably cut traffic and neighbour noise compared with a standard timber or Colorbond fence.

What is the difference between acoustic timber and a panel wall system?

Acoustic timber is a sealed version of a classic timber fence — lapped and capped with no gaps and a sleeper base — and is the more cost-effective option. Panel systems (modular wall, Quickbuilt or alternate) use dense infill panels in a steel frame for a rendered-masonry look and the strongest noise reduction. We build both and will recommend the right one for your block.

Are panel wall systems cheaper than a brick wall?

Generally yes. You get the rendered-masonry look without the heavy footings, bricklaying labour and time a true masonry wall needs. They install far faster too, which keeps the cost down while still giving you that premium finish.
