What a pool safety inspection in Townsville checks
A compliant pool barrier comes down to a handful of things done right. We check them all against the Queensland standard (AS 1926):
- HEIGHT ≥ 1.2M Fence height measured correctly, everywhere along the barrier
- GAPS ≤ 100MM No gaps over 100mm under or between the fence
- NCZ 900MM Non-climbable zone — no footholds (pots, pumps, BBQs, trees) near the barrier
- GATE HARDWARE Self-closing, self-latching, opening outward away from the pool
- HOUSE ACCESS No direct access from the house into the pool area
- CPR SIGNAGE Sign present, current and in good condition
Book your pool safety inspection
We’ll find a time that suits and sort the certificate — inspection $250, incl. re-inspection.
Failed inspection? We complete the rectification ourselves and issue your pool safety certificate — one team, no separate contractors.
When do you need a pool safety certificate in Townsville?
In Queensland you need a valid pool safety certificate whenever you sell or lease a property with a pool or spa, and plenty of owners get one simply for peace of mind that their barrier is safe for kids. For a non-shared pool the certificate is generally valid for two years. If you're selling, it's worth booking the inspection early — that way, if anything needs fixing, there's time to sort it before settlement instead of holding things up.
As licensed Queensland pool safety inspectors (PS15495259 & PS15528121) we inspect against the AS 1926 standard, lodge the paperwork, and issue your certificate once the barrier passes. Our $250 inspection includes the QBCC certificate fee and a re-inspection, so there are no surprise add-ons. Inspections are available across all Townsville suburbs — Kirwan, Aitkenvale, Mundingburra, Cranbrook, Mount Louisa, Deeragun, Hyde Park, North Ward and surrounds.
What fails inspections — and how we fix it
The usual culprits are gates that don't self-close or self-latch, gaps over 100mm under or beside the fence, climbable objects too close to the barrier (pot plants, pumps, BBQs, even trees), and direct access from the house into the pool area. Because we're fencing specialists as well as inspectors, we don't just hand you a failure list — we can repair the gate hardware, fix the gaps, install compliant glass pool fencing or aluminium and then certify it, often in the one visit.
Not ready for a formal inspection? Our $99 consultation gives you onsite advice — a health check on an existing fence, or planning a compliant barrier for a new pool — so you know exactly where you stand before you spend.

What does a pool safety inspection check?
The main things are the fence height, gaps under and between the fence (no more than 100mm), the non-climbable zone (no footholds near the fence), and that gates are self-closing and self-latching and open outward away from the pool. We check the lot against AS1926 and the Queensland standard.
