Swing or sliding — which gate suits your driveway?
A swing gate is the classic look and usually the most cost-effective, but it needs clear space to swing open and a reasonably level approach. A sliding gate is the go for wide driveways, sloping blocks, or where a swing gate would foul a car, the footpath or the slope — it runs along the boundary instead of swinging into the yard. We'll measure your opening, check the fall and the space, and recommend the right one rather than selling you the dearer option for the sake of it.
Whatever you choose, we build the gate to match your fence — timber, Colorbond, aluminium slat or custom steel — so the entrance flows with the boundary instead of looking like an afterthought.
Custom gates Townsville-made — automation, steel and solar
Automation adds real convenience and security — open from your car with a remote or a keypad, and let the gate close behind you. We install swing and sliding gate motors with remotes, keypads, intercoms and safety sensors — including solar-powered automation where there's no power at the gate — and we can often automate an existing gate if it and its posts are sound. If they're not quite up to it we'll tell you straight, and rebuild or re-hang as needed so the automation runs reliably rather than chewing through motors.
We also fabricate custom steel gates in our own workshop for the heavy-duty and one-off jobs, and repair and re-motor failed and sagging gates. And because we're licensed pool safety inspectors, we make sure pool gates stay self-closing, self-latching and compliant.
Gate questions, answered
Can you automate my existing gate?
Often yes — if the gate and posts are sound we can fit a swing or sliding gate motor with remotes and a keypad. If the gate is sagging or the posts aren’t up to it, we’ll let you know and can rebuild or re-hang it so the automation runs reliably.
Do you make custom steel gates in Townsville?
Yes — we fabricate custom steel gates in our own workshop, from simple heavy-duty driveway gates to one-off designs. Because we make them ourselves we can match sizes, infills and finishes to your fence exactly.
My pool gate won’t self-close — can you fix it?
Yes, and it’s important — a pool gate must be self-closing and self-latching to stay compliant. We repair and adjust pool gate hardware as part of our pool safety work and can certify it once it passes.
What gate is best for a wide driveway?
A sliding gate is usually the go for wide or sloping driveways, or where a swing gate would foul a car or the footpath. We’ll measure up and recommend swing vs sliding based on your space, slope and budget.
